I look at everything with a 10x and then use the scope to take images ..

Going through Mr. Potter recent finds, because I new he had a 2007 with a die clash around the ear .
Look at the size of the ear and if you take away the area in question on my, it a normal looking ear then .. 01-horz.jpg

Those images should answer your questions about the clash and doubled die. The clash shown is a memorial bay under the ear. None of that on your coin. Also, look on the backside of the ear of the clashed coin. Notice the length from the bend to the tip of the ear lobe. On your coin, the length from the bend to where the "doubling" begins is 1/2 to 2/3 that total length. I stand behind no clash, no doubled die. It has to be a stain & glare or a hit.

did you try acetone? It looks like a stain of some sort giving the impression of 3 dimensionality.

Its not a stain Tommy . You can see the regular ear with another lower ear too .. Potter wanted me to go to the MSNS show today but its to far for me . Next show is the ANA in November ...

I respect Mr. Potter and all the opinions here but I'm not seeing a DDO. I can't get past the size thing. The ear would be too small if you took away the lower part. I'm sure Potter will be more sure once he can see the coin in hand.

I know he like the images I posted on coneca forums . I'm going to crop the image on post 23 so they sit evenly . Potters sit up higher then the one in question

We need a better image on the left. Something as nice as the right one with lighting about the same.

I can do that, but it will be a 2008 . I don't have a 2007 laying around . Potter is the one on the left ..

Is it possible that this area of the die was filled with junk and created this look?
