Box of BWR yielded typical wheatbacks, around 18. Two coins were exceptional! 1928, 1957-D with mint luster. :)

Half box of half dollars, no silver coins. Two special clads though - 2005-S, 2009-D.

That just stuns me into absolute silence. How did those rolls survive the modern age in a bank? Where were they? How did nobody know about them? How long were they sitting there? It's incomprehensible.

And I get excited if I see a picture of a silver dime... whoooo! I'll be contemplating that one until the universe contracts, assuming it will...

My closest, but nowhere near comparable, experience was receiving a 1950s $1 silver certificate directly from a bank teller. This happened only 5-6 years ago. I also pondered that one, but it's at least comprehensible unlike a treasure trove of Franklins hiding in plain site... augh...

That's a *really* nice 1928! I'd scream, holler & whoop if I found something like that in a box o' cents.

That 1928 is gorgeous. According to PCGS, a "red" 1928 cent *starts* at $32. That's graded of course, but ungraded it's probably still worth more than the average silver half dollar.

Speaking of, that 2005-S is banged up. Pocket coin perhaps?

Yeah I don't know what the 1928 is worth, but it sure looks pretty in my book! :)

The 2005-S has definitely been in circulation for a while. This is the first proof half I've found roll hunting. Amazing to me to find it. Figured I'd never find one, so my Dansco books don't have slots for proofs. I'll have to add a blank page! :) :) :)

Well I got skunked on a $1000 bag of dimes today, which is a first for me, out of the 43 bags ive went through this year, thats the first dud on a whole bag. Well you win some you lose some.

The 1928 Wheatie looks like a possible Gem quality cent except for what appears to be a dark smough at 9 o'clock on the obverse. Otherwise, the coin is awesome. It's doubling awesome if found in a cent roll. Congrats!!!!!

I almost never ever do half dollar roll searches, I tend to strike out with them. Anyway I bought $30 in CWR halves and churned up the following this week:
    1 1968-D 40%

Inspired I went back to another bank that has been sitting on $900 in BWR halves for a couple of months. And midway through the rolls I am starting to think my chitty luck has returned once the more when I finally occasion another '68-D.

Then a sort of strange find, a Lincoln prexibux ie 2010-D masquerading as a half dollar. A few rolls later another '68-D 40%.

And then my day was made, my ridiculous gamble paid off...

The smell, the solid look suggesting silver, but not just 40% - but 90%! Heart racing, cats pacing through the unravelled wrappers in front of me... and a 1962 Franklin in proof makes an appearance. Wow, first silver proof ever, and first 90% half in a BWR roll.

This could be a new addiction to feed.

And then I took the just shy of $900 to my friendly credit union and deposited them, to add to my agony of the day the teller had five more 40% waiting for me:
    1966(x2) 1967, 1968-D(x2).

Did a bag of nickels today, rather good for nickels, got 2 upgrades for my high grade book, a 1940 and 1940-d that were MS and found 2 1945-s silvers and one was uncirculated and still was silver colored and looked like a normal uncirculated nickel, which was a new addition to my MS in circulation set.
