there are so many varibles in this hobby - noone person can know everything. to this end, i have decided to study 2 or 3 types of coins and learn them inside and out. this will enable me to walk away from what at first glance appears to be a nice coin. so far, i have bought only 1 "problem" coin, and i bought it as an educational tool - ihave studied that coin inside and out and now know what to avoid. the problem has nothing to do with the coins, but the buyers and sellers. if you do you homework, you will always be rewarded with nice coins that are problem free. -Steve
I agree with Roy and possibly a 3rd choice. They are buying sub-standard coins with a hope of getting lucky with a Top Tier grading company and flipping it for a major profit.
U.S. Trade $1. Troodon,I have seen 2 genuine U.S. Trade $1 coins since I got into the numismatic trade.I almost bought one of them a few years back, but the price was out of my reach. The only Trade $1 coins that interest me are the British Trade $1 coins. Aidan.
There are authentic Trade Dollars to be found out there. The problem is that so, so many counterfeits exist. Some dealers have boxes of fakes that have accumulated over the years. The market just becomes saturated with fakes.
