Hello everyone, im new here but I collect coins since a little while. Usually i find out what i need to know, but with this one its though. So i have a Buffalo Nickel from 1913 it seems like theres a "D" ( I´m pretty sure its a "D" its better to see under a magnifying glas ) left to the "E" from E PLURIBUS UNUM. " Its hard to see it on the Pictures" I tried my best to take good ones. Have you ever heard about it? Or ideas on how to grade the worth? Id appreciate any help
Reminds me of all of the "1916d" dimes I have pulled out of albums over the years. Stare hard enough, and wish hard enough, and you can try to convince yourself. No, nothing is there man.
There is something, i wonder what caused this. Maybe zoom in would help to see it better? Thanks @ken454
There could be something, but with the new design mintmarks were protected and not polished away like on certain coins like cents. On a cent it would be more likely a mintmark got polished down to almost nothing, (look at the 22 plain), but on these buffalos they couldn't be.
Repost your image and when you do post it full size. It may be die chips or a dropped letter. It's hard to see a coin with any issues unless you opt. For the full size image. That way we can enlarge the image and have a better look.
Looks as if there's not a dropped letter in unum look in the M looks like a dropped C from America above the M.
One never knows what can be found as far as imagination goes I see what I see because it's there.... like my two 1928 buffalo's . ..but til another example is found no one will touch that puppy. Besides I have good eyes for these things.....as you well know Frank
Paddy, I've never seen a '28 Buffalo with a '28 Buffalo in it. Does that mean it's a 10c piece? Chris
Well worn die combined with what may be a die clash from the indians neck. (The edge of the neck is just a little left of the E in the motto.)
