Anyone ever have ebay Bonus Bucks multiplier NOT apply?

Yesterday I received a 5x Bucks offer for any purchases over $50. It was perfect because I had a pretty good deal on an Eisenhower C&C set waiting for me to decide on. So I activated the offer (only not good on Bullion and a few other limited categories), then made my purchase. The offer/extra Bucks were not applied. So I waited to see if they would "fix" it automatically, but it still wasn't good this morning.

I just got off the phone with eBay Customer Service and at first they tried to say it was because I used Paypal Credit to pay for it. I called Bolshevik on that as it didn't list that as a restriction and I've used that many times before. Eventually he opened a case to have the extra Bucks added. It should have been $13.50 rather than just $2.70 and I would probably not have bought the set without the bonus.

Anyone else have this happen and what was the result?

The bucks you earn now will not be tallied up until the first week of October, as far as I know. If they don't show up then, you have a beef.

Each purchase you make shows up as a line-item in your Bucks panel. I've never had one fail to immediately reflect the bonus Bonus Bucks.

If they put the listing under the bullion category, it wouldn't count. Check and see what category it was listed under on the original listing.

You have to activate it. I thought if I got an email id just get it but you actually have to click the "activate this offer"

Missed out on a bunch because I didn't click the link.

Ebay's so greedy that they'll take 5 minutes to think of something that sort of looks like a benefit, then they'll sit up all night figuring how to screw you out of it...

Incidentally, Donahoe's gone, and there's a new CEO, Devin Wenig, in the saddle now.

I have had something like that happen before. I activated my deal. I went to a coin a little bit later and it didn't show the higher ebay bucks total then. I went back to it a few minutes later and it was there. I didn't buy it until it showed the correct total. Did you activate it and the buy pretty soon afterwards, or was there some time that had passed?

I activated it, then clicked on the "Shop now" button it provided. It did not show the higher Bucks value on the listing page, but that happens all the time with Bucks offers and I've never before had one not come through correctly.

Sometimes there is a delay, but once it hadn't applied after a few days. I called eBay as you did and they added the extra bonus bucks. Perhaps there was stipulation that didn't qualify for the bonus bucks but as far as I read there were none and eBay couldn't see one either. They ended up crediting the bonus bucks. You did well to keep an eye on it.

Nobody really knows. Last period (2nd quarter), I got NOT bonus offers. This period and all others since I signed up, I get one almost every week. The 5x on anything over $50 is pretty uncommon. Today I got 2x for $50-99, 3x for $100 to $149 and 4x for $150 plus. <shrug>

I need to call again. I have received no communication after opening my support case except for a survey. I think they closed the case without telling me anything.

I called back again today to check on things. Turns out the offer didn't start until 8 am, which I didn't see, and I bought my item at 7:25 am! D'oh! Read those offers carefully (I thought I had)!

But the support person I spoke with was sympathetic and was able to grant me a coupon for the difference: $10.80. I think it was mostly due to them failing to get back to me after the first call, but either way I'll take it. This is a reminder to be pleasant, but firm and persistent.

Eh. They weren't showing sympathy. There's a tolerance level built into CS modeling. If you've spent more than X min on a specific issue, and it seems you're not going to let it go, they pay you off. Why? Because you're costing the company more money in CS wages than they're saving by not paying you off.

It was funnier when eBay owned PP. It would be simpler to bitch to PP for eBay errors, since they'd actually put cash in your PP account for things eBay messed up. Not all the time, but often enough to make it an issue with their standards.

Seems like a complicated system.... I like ours a lot better, we put money in your paypal account.
