It at least gives more of a story to the coin and its design...I know a lot of people didn't like the image of Liberty, but if you listen to the designer you begin to understand what he was trying to convey and how much it means to him. I feel it give a little more meaning to the coin's design. Kind of makes me want one a little more than I did.

It's not the design that's ugly. It's the bullion round itself. No design--no matter how attractive--can overcome the complete and total horribleness of gold.

    Thanks for posting.
Interesting to hear the artist's response to the assignment and his rationale for his interpretation. I know there are those here who haven't warmed up to it, but I think this coin will stand up well as a Liberty of our time.

Yes, thank you for not putting Lady Liberty in a hoody. :)

Thanks for posting that phankins11. To be honest I had not seen that coin before. It is very nice with a high relief and that may be something I may buy in the short term.

I go to that school. Here's the original article about him that the university put out.

I'm a journalism major there and one of the girls is writing a follow up story about this and is trying to get ahold of the mint to ask some questions about the coin. And she has been getting nowhere. Like three days of calling people haha.
