I have a 1974 d penny. It's silver in color with a little brown color on two parts of the rim. It's really shiny and pretty good condition. It's magnetic and weighs 3 grams at least. My scale doesn't do decimals. So I was wondering what I have. It's confusing me. I don't know how to upload a photo so I used it as my profile pic.
It's plated or coated with a silver colored substance. http://www.sciencecompany.com/Turn-Copper-Pennies-Into-Silver-and-Gold-Pennies.aspx
Very little. You'd need a scale that measures out to at least 4 decimal places to detect the weight difference.
This is a cruel joke! Getting people's hopes up. Not you. Whoever changed this. Thanks for the info! I think I'm still going to keep it though.
More often than not, this is not intended as a joke. It is done intentionally to try to deceive people into paying more for a coin than it is worth. Chris
