Okay - how many stockings do I need to get? And where do I ship them to? I started to say when do I put them - but I was afraid that would distract from this thread since I am sure there are several that would tell me.:mouth:
mintage of spouse gold mintage max for 4 coin set is set at 40,000. plus individual proof ???. total will be very high. forget about investment these coins....
I think that max mintage for each coin will be 40,000 including the sets and the ones you buy individually. Which means at the end you could have 30,000 proof and 10,000 unc... numbers will depend on demand.
ND86, Is that date the estimate when the subscriptions will equal the total mintages? Also, could you please clarify the mintage figures. The Mint website says "Each First Spouse Coin is limited to 40,000 coins across all product options.". Does that mean that each spouse coin will be limited to 40,000 proof and uncirculated combined? Or 40,000 proofs for sets and individual sale combined, and another 40,000 uncirculated for sets and individual combined? Thank you
I'm inclined to think that the first few coins will be heavily subscribed. Collectors lose interest in the series after awhile, there might be a couple of genuine low mintage coins worth owning. Unfortunately, we can't predict which coins to buy in advance, but it probably won't be the first in the series.
from what i have seen, most often when production limits are set.. it is across ALL options.. so if the first spouse coin is 40K, then the proof might get 20K, the unc gets 10K and the 4 coin set could get 10k ... add em all up, and its 40k
mintages 4 pc unc set and 4 pc proof set. 40 k max. then it should be around 15,000 proof single, 10,000 unc single, 10,000 proof set, and 5,000 unc set. in other word. 25,000 proof and 15,000 unc. this is my estimation. with this mintages. for gold, it is considered a lot. not a good investment.
Will subscriptions be cut off when they reach the planned production limit? I don't recall ever seeing a US Mint Subscription with limited production.
No, to pricey for me. It may end up being a good investment though. The first two or three sets will probably sell the most and than except a drop off in mintages in the following years.
I think the mint sort of asked for it when they offered the subscriptions for ten of each when I thought the idea of a subscription was for one person. It's kind of like a magazine subscription, who orders ten of the same magazine? The mint might want to only allow one item per subscription and then all of this nonsense would stop. They can always order at the limit once it goes on the main website.
And just how does the mint prevent the owner, his wife, each of his employees, relatives and neighbors, along with all of their children, from ordering? For that matter how does the mint prevent John Q. Doe from ordering 1 to his home address and 1 to his business address as just John Doe, along with other variations on his name?
Maybe , just maybe if you had a low household limted per order , it would slow the dealers/flippers down just enough for the average collector to get an order in on a limited edition. Wishful thinking I am sure. Got to give the mint a little credit for at least trying. Did I say that?
