Picked this up yesterday at the local shop. A bit too glossy to capture a decent photo, but heres my attempt. Philip II, Macedonia. AE19, 359-336 BC. 5.8 gr. Diademed head of Apollo left / FILIPPOU, young male rider on horse prancing right, upright thunderbolt below
Sweet!! => nice pickup, randygeki (congrats) I recall JA stating that the left-facing examples are a bit more rare than the right-facing examples (ummm, or was it the other way around? ... chances are good that he'll see this thread and post all of his cool examples) ... either way, that's a great new pickup (congrats) Yah, I have a right-facing example of this coin-type ...
Here's mine but not my photo: Phillip II, Kingdom of Macedonia, BC 359 - 336 AE, 5g, 17.5mm, uncertain Macedonian mint Obv.: Laureate head of Apollo right Rev.: ΦΙΛΙxx... (likely ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ); youth on horseback right, ΛΥ beneath horse left, unknown symbol beneath horse right I couldn't figure out what the symbol/figure/character is on the bottom right.
VERY NiCE pick-up randy---I'm still trying to replace the one I had, but all these threads get me bidding in every direction .....and some I simply can't keep up with LOL
The right/right varieties are the most common. Left/right are scarce. The most scarce are the left/left. Here's my set in all four orientations...
I really enjoy Philip II History. He created a Hegemony of Greece, created the famous Makedonon Phalanx and Companion Cavalry, and consolidated power! His right hand men helped formulate the plans to invade Persia to avenge all of the wrongs that Persians had done in past invasions of Greece. He was assassinated, propelling the young Alexander III to carry out their plans. He was brilliant enough to keep several of Philip's Generals and their experience. If it weren't for Philip II, there may never had been an Alexander the Great. It is a shame that Philip was not deemed as 'Great' as he truly was for Makedonon and Greece.
MAKEDONON AE 19 6.1g 359-336 BCE Philip II facing left Rev: Man riding horse I have not attributed this yet. Purchased this and 2 others YEARS ago, and need to do my homework.
MAKEDONON AE 19 6.5g 359-336 BCE Philip II facing left Rev: Galloping Horse and Hound I have not attributed this yet. Purchased this and 2 others YEARS ago, and need to do my homework.
I have a Phillip II, but no horse. Yes the gloss can be killer on a pic. Also nice coins Randy and all.

dlhill132: Your image was hard to see as it was too dark for my eyes. So I lightened it a bit. I hope you don't mind:
Wow, much better! @dlhill132, you have some fabulous coins but often the images are too dark to see any details
