This is my newest acquisition. It is an overdate, but you have to look very closely to recognize it; the Denver variety is that way compared to the Philadelphia one. I posted the Philly a few months ago. Give this one a stab!

    Scratched (face), VF Details.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

I'd call it VF-30. It looks like an attractive coin.

The tiny scratch on the face is well within the normal marks allowed for a circulated VF coin. Same with the minor scratch on the reverse. Remember, in these pictures the coin has been magnified about a hundred times....

I'm thinking I need to take a closer look at all my "junk" mercs

Sorry, but I feel differently . . . The scratch on the face bothers me . . . it's longer than, wider than, brighter than, and in a worse location than the innocuous scratch on the reverse.

I'll go with VF-30. I think it would grade.

And the winner is...VF-25! ToughCoins, you've got to remember that the picture you were looking at was literally 100 times larger than the actual coin, so the scratch was 100 times larger, as well. The scratch is a tiny distraction, well within reason for a VF coin.

Nice coin. So many of these have been messed with. Nice original look.

I'm very happy with this coin. I bought its Philadelphia counterpart a few months ago. This one makes my date / mint mark set (business strike) of mercs complete. Now I'm going to upgrade a few of the lower grade coins I bought when I was a youth. For example, both of my 1921s (P and D) grade at AG3. I'm not happy with that!

    On the hunt again...
