I just won this auction on Ebay, my first coin of Nero

Lugdunum (Lyon) mint. Struck circa AD 66. Bare head left, with globe at point of bust / Genius standing left, sacrificing from patera over lighted altar and holding cornucopia. RIC I 534; Lyon 230; WCN 595.
    10,07g, 29mm
It's corroded, but it was fairly cheap (around $26 US) does it look like anything bad has been done to this coin (cleaning, smoothing ,tooling etc..)

I see nothing wrong with the coin and the price was most certainly good. Congrats.

    Nero?

Here's my Nero. Like yours, a less expensive example:

    Nero AD 54-68
    Ae as, 28mm, 8.2g, 6h; Lugdunum mint
Obv.: IMP NERO CAESAR AVG P MAX TR P P P with small globe at point of bust; Bare head left
Rev.: Victory flying left, holding shield [inscribed SPQR]
    Ref.: RIC 544

This one was fun to attribute because this coin has had a rough past. The obverse legend is a little easier to read in hand, with a magnifying glass

    And one of mine:

    NERO
    AE As
OBVERSE: NERO CAESAR AVG GERM IMP - Laureate head right
REVERSE: No legend - Victory advancing left, holding shield
    Struck at Rome, 65AD
    8.5g, 26mm
    RIC 312, BMC 241, S 1976

I'd call that as good a Nero as as $26 has any right to buy. I do not own the type.

It's difficult to tell from a photo but it looks like it's been over cleaned, the patina is about gone or pretty thin. It looks like the encrustations have been removed leaving many pits. It's still a good coin for $26 and I'd definitely take it for a budget example. The coin has nearly full legends which is good.

I have a slot filler that is lower grade than yours. Planning on getting a better one later on but it's low priority for me.

When upgrading, also consider a dupondius.
