If a Leprechaun gives you a gold coin and it turns into a pebble, do you have any recourse?

Coins in Movies: "The Luck of the Irish" (1948) with Tyrone Power.

I watched the film "The Luck of the Irish" on television several times when I was a kid, sometimes with my father who was into Irish-related films.

The film is on DVD now and I watched it recently, and found that there was a coin involved in the story.

While visiting Ireland, American newspaper reporter Tyrone Power meets a Leprechaun who gives him a gold coin as a "lucky coin".

Later local girl Anne Baxter identifies the coin as a Spanish Doubloon, sixteenth century, from the (1588) Armada wreckage.

The coin is shown, it is, of course, an imitation prop coin.

The coin is apparently based on an old Spanish coin of King Ferdinand. The legend reads "NAVARRE" and "FERNANDVS".

After Tyrone returns to New York, he makes a couple of bad decisions, and the coin turns into a pebble.

There is more on my website under "Coins in Movies".

    :)

Well I can tell you this......don't mess with a Leprechauns because bad MOJO can happen!
And another FYI Mayan's also had Leprechauns in their culture.
Like you could loose your entire coin collection they like shinny things.......
And store them at the end of a rainbow.
Pictured below is a Mayan Chief in full dress with his Leprechaun watching his back. This painting was done on a deer skin a gift to me during one of my many travels to Central America countries . 20150912_184455.jpg

I'd pummel the putrid perpetrator with plentiful pebbles the size of rocks........

And here's a thought.... after doing just that.....you wake up one morning, walk into the bath room, and looking into the mirror and instead of seeing Ken's face you see Frank's! and that my friend is why you don't mess with Leprechauns! :)

    KEY WORD "Bad Decisions"

I don't think the leprechaun Warwick Davis portrays does give-a-aways. But he sure gets pissed if one of his gold coins goes missing.

It depends on whether or not you bought it on eBay.

Well I did loose it sort of.....as a dealer friend promised me a fried chicken his treat. But it seems I did not check my calendar and we have a family function to attend .
And to be honest I've lost lunch and dinner quite a few times in Nap town, there's plenty of refreshment stations in Annapolis . Some within stumbling distance from each other. :)

And next month I'll be spending sometime in Texas on a special project . That said I need to retire been working way to hard lately .

Sure. You can always start a 'Don't Buy Anything From This Dealer" thread on Cointalk.
