Constantine II, AE follis, Siscia, 337-340 AD, 3.7g, 19mm OBV: CONSTANTINVS IVN N C, Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right. REV: VICT dot LAETAE PRINC PERP, Two Victories standing facing one another, holding shield inscribed VOT-PR on an altar, decorated with the letter I. Mintmark BSIS star. REF: RIC VII Siscia 99 var. This is that coin that I purchased for $4 that I was telling you guys about. This is my own photo.
An exceptionally nice example Gil !!!! Great strike and nearly perfect 'lettering'... A fantastic deal for just $4.00 with so much eye-appeal!! And a really great photo!!
$4 ... what a rip-off!! Pretty amazing steal, Daryl (man, it costs me $4 to kick-start my computer!!)
First thought on seeing this is how old the portrait looks compared to the age of the 2-3y.o. boy shown. I suspect this was very early in the series when that mint had no idea what the portrait should be. Great coin.
One thing I did not mention is that the seller sent me the wrong coin. So, he sent me the Constantine II coin along with a mailer. I'm going to return the coin to him today since he asked for me to return it which I have no problem with. I decided to take a photo of the Numerian Antoninianus.
