Send the coin to a TPG or have a dealer send it in for you, and then you'll know what sort of value you really have instead of guessing at it.
You're calling the guy a liar, based solely upon assumptions and conjecture, but I'm the one being accusatory? If you're truly trying to educate yourself, Tony; you start by listening. You've been provided with many valid reasons why this dealer, or any dealer for that matter, may not wish to purchase certain material that are easy to understand. You certainly do not have to take anyone's word for it, but at least in this case, doing so would be a wise move. Perhaps, after rereading your one post, it should be pointed out that bid isn't a "minimum". It's not like that's the least he could've offered or paid for it, which brings us to the fact that I'm sure there was a number at which he would've been pleased as punch to buy at, but he decently didn't try to rip or insult you, and is more than can be said for a lot of guys out there. There is a self-described "coin dealer" (actually a pawnshop) not far from me that would've started out at around 10%-15% of melt; would you have preferred to deal with someone like this? The point is that it could've been a LOT worse. Let's just say that if you can find a dealer or wholesale buyer who's going to be willing to pay straight bid or more for anything and everything put infront of him, cherish your time with him as he's not likely to be in business very long.
Yea, I wasn't saying that is why the dealer shot you down. I was only saying it's a possibility. Without knowing the dealer or seeing your coins I couldn't possibly know with any degree of certainty why he wouldn't want them. I was just speculating as to other reasons why he didn't want them, besides no market for them.
Yea it should come as no surprise that the shop owner/dealer is only going to buy what they feel certain they can sell for a profit. If they don't they will mostly likely go out of business. I wouldn't take it too personal. Even if the shop advertised they would buy anything you have to kind of expect they wouldn't if it wasn't suitable for them. What would be more important to me is how they treated me. If they rejected my items in a rude way I would never go back there to sell them something - even if I know it's something they would buy. I would probably look to see who their closest competitor is and go there. I would also be sure to tell anyone that asks how poor they treated me and how great the competitor is. Again this is only if they treated me like crap.
