I dont see anything wrong with the way it was. Im very close to ending my Ebay account anyway. It makes me ill to think of all the money I've spent on shipping over the past 5 years.
Not sure yet. While most have a tendency to not like anything new I'll give it time before judging it. The whole detailed rating thing will be interesting once most people have enough new feedback for it to mean anything. I guess we'll see. One thing odd. It shows my feedback as a seller as 44, my feedback as a buyer 293, but my total feedback as 502. I've sold more than 44 items, but this make me look like a less experienced seller than I am. I don't sell much anymore so it probably won't matter, but it could matter to some if I start selling again.
Dumb question here. You are selling Washington Dollars with a buy it now of a dollar. May I ask why you are doing this and how much money you are actually losing on each sale? Listing Fee Buy it now Fee Paypal Fee Just curious
Maybe becuase he is charging $1.50 shipping and handling and the actual shippping charge will probably be less than 50 cents.
He is making money - not enough to pay for the hassles, but the shipping will cover his fees plus. A better question is how much is the shipping? It is listed as $1.50 under shipping and $1.25 in the description.
I am curious to see how some sellers react if you give them a positive, but not a perfect rating on shipping or one of the other details.
I see nothing wrong with the new feedback layout... I think the only real change is the addition of the item desc under the feedback text....
I see that the feedback shows what you've bought if it's in the last 90 days. Although I don't have anything in particular to hide, I don't think that should be anyone else's business... What will eBay's response be when someone harvests data on heavy coin buyers and then uses that information to case the houses? Major privacy issue as far as I can see.
Sellers can't see how their buyers rate them in each category. Here's a screen of the options they gave me: I like this new system. There's at least one seller who'll be getting a very poor rating from me as far as communication and shipping times go. I bought an item from somebody a month ago who ignored all my emails, and just now told me he would ship after I threatened a credit card charge back. He has a pattern of slow/no shipping, and he leaves negs when people complain about it. The anonymous ratings will mean he can't retaliate, and future buyers will be warned.
I'm not really trying to make money off of them. I just started this new account and I'm trying to build up my feedback score a bit before I start selling more expensive items.
As I just listed some Items for sale on EBAY for the first time in 6 or 8 months or so, I was astounded by the amount of info I was able to look up on the bidders of my items. (Of Course I check up on each and every bidder!) I am blown away by the way ebay will show a seller who, what, % bids won etc. What they bid on or sold was always easy to find by advanced search. As a Buyer, I think there is too much info given out about me........ As a Seller I am overjoyed about the info I can now find out about my bidders........
As a buyer, I suppose it's helpful to see if a seller had been selling care bear stuffed animals and then suddenly started selling $1,000 coins (hijacked account possibility). Really it was all there (via a link to the auction) it just wasn't listed like it is now. You could always see the links to the past auctions, but you had to click on them to see what they were. As a buyer, I don't think it's great that what I bought is listed as there's some things you just don't want listed that you buy (higher ticket items, maybe adult material, etc.) -again though, it's always been there via a link. I have requested that some sellers NOT give me feedback for a few of the $1,000 notes I've purchased.
i guess i'm in the minority. i don't really care that others can see what i've purchased. i don't buy anything potentially embarrassing anyway, and like samjimmy says, this info has been there all along. if a burgler is watching what i order, he doesn't know where i live anyway. the only people that can see my address are the people i buy from. since 2002, none of my dealers have ever hunted me down to rob back what i've bought from them or from other dealers. since it hasn't happened by now, i'm not too worried about it. if that time ever comes, i would use a post office box & set my feedback to private. i'm more of a buyer anyway...and i don't think a seller would mind that he can't read my private feedback, so long as i pay instantly and he can see i have a 99.7% positive rating. these updates aren't perfect, but it's a slight improvement. i can leave more accurate feedback to lousy sellers without the fear of a retaliatory neg. people that doctor banknotes can't use the same account to sell a gem note as easily, because everyone can see they bought it a week ago as a VF. and before getting into a bidding war, i can look at my competition and judge how much they might be willing to spend. what was once mostly impersonal transactions just became a little more transparent.
You're kidding right?!? The eBay feedback system is fundamentally flawed, at least this is a step in the right direction.
I agree to a point The_Cave_Troll .. the new system will still have the alot of the inherent flaws of the old system... Sellers will still retaliate against bidders who leave justfied neg's, bidders will still be afraid to report the true sale because they are afraid of getting retailated negs. ... untill Ebay makes the sellers leave feedback AS SOON AS PAYMENT arives like they are supposed to, then the feedback system will not function as intended. too many sellers leave feedback ONLY AFTER they recieve a positive.. that is not how it is supposed to work ... I dont think Ebay wants to hurt the power sellers... which i am sure they would have fewer of if they made sellers post feedback prior to the bidder ....
It's a good point... as a seller I think the only thing you should be rating is whether or not, and how quickly, the buyer pays. As soon as the buyer pays, assuming they paid in a reasonable amount of time and the amount of the bid plus the posted shipping, you should leave a positive. Is what I do, as a seller. I only leave a negative if the buyer doesn't pay (if they do pay, but take an unreasonable amount of time to do so, I leave neutral.) As a buyer I leave a positive as soon as the item arrives, assuming it's as described and sent in a reasonable amount of time. If the seller screws something up or takes an unreasonable amount of time, but eventually fixes the problem, I leave a neutral; if they send nothing, or if they screw up and don't make any effort to fix it, I leave a negative. I would support making it mandatory for a seller to leave feedback as soon as payment is made, or not at all. Would prevent people holding the buyers' feedback ratings hostage, and leaving reatlitory feedback for justified negatives and neutrals. I think the changes made are a step in the right direction, the more info, the better. I like the detailed feedback you can leave as a buyer, and the fact that it is anonymous so any seller that is rated low can't retaliate. I also like how they separate feedback ratings as a buyer from feedback ratings as a seller. Not perfect, but a step in the right direction.
how is everyone saying the feedback is anonamous?? i havenet seen that posted anywhere EXCEPT on this forum... as fas as what i have seen, BOTH sides will see what was left ...
It's not the feedback that is anonymous. It's the new details about seller information which will only appear as a summary of what has been reported, and won't show who reported it. The first actual reports should start showing up in a few days, as it takes at least 10 feedbacks where the buyer completed the form before it will be posted for a particular seller.
