I organize mine by date, but (not including anything after medieval, or the handful of near blank pieces)... AU = 0 (unless you count the micro nugget from exhibiting) AR = 6 Fouree = 4 AE = 26 Hmm. Pretty low numbers. Whodathunk.
Your numbers are very much like mine when I was in high school except I had not yet started into fourrees. In 50 years, what might be your projections?
0 AU 5 AR (15 if you count my medievals) 1 Fouree 14 AE If moderns were included these numbers would be wholly different, but nowhere near as interesting
Very rough estimate Gold 2 (not ancient) Silver 50 plus about 10 Indian Rupees Bronze 341 Potin 2 Fourees 2
Wow, who resurrected my sweet ol' thread? ... man, I only had 258 ancient coins when I started this baby (now I'm up to 344)
It looks like there have been a rash of resurrected threads lately... this one looked worth adding to!
AV = Zilch (prowling...) EL = Zilch (seriously prowling...) AR = 133 AE = 67 PB = 1 (1st BCE Sri Lanka) Fouree = 1 Cast Fake RR = 1 (my "keeps-me-honest" memento) TOT = 203 (for the moment...) RR = 97 RE = 53 GK = 14 Carthage = 8 Makedonia = 13 Other = 18 (Parthia, China, Sri Lanka, Fouree, Cast Fake...) TOT = 203 (again...for the moment)
My estimate for my ancients(and it is mostly ancients these days, I sold all my moderns of value here recently to buy more ancients): AV: 0(But I am very much wanting to buy a solidus of Justinian or Heraclius by the end of the year) EL: 0(Again, planning to "fix" by the end of the year) AR: 20 AE: 38 "presentable examples" + ~50 various low grade coins from uncleaned lot Tot: 58 in my core collection, 50 "partially identifiable bits of metal"
Well, lets see, if we multiply my expected discretionary income by the number of coin shows likely to be within driving distance of the White House, and divide that number by the probable amount of times my wife will "talk" to me about my problem...
interesting thread, glad i finally caught it. not counting my modern coin (post 1500),i i have no gold, i only have 32 silver coins (with 1 inbound), and over 240 bronze coins.
