Just picked this up on ebay for $39. Would it grade, if so what grade?

    SHIELD nickel?

A bit hard to judge the luster from those photos, feels like at least MS62.

Coincidentally, here is the one I recently picked up for $21.50.

MS 61-62 these are hard to find above 64. There are a lot out there in the 61-63 range, mostly 63's.

Either 58 or 63 on the OP coin.

    Love V nickels! OP's looks 63

@taxidermis your is the XF sweet spot, that's where I like'em for my set. Price is right, so far, and I like the history that is all wrapped up in the wear and circulation. Is yours that gold color? Or is the white balance just off?

paddy why is this the case?

It is that color toning, reminds me of how my 94 sms is toning. Kind of appropriate given the nickel

Between the nature of the marks on the reverse and the rim ding at 2:00 obverse, I'm officially sideways on it and can't decide if it's Mint State or not. AU63. :)

Point is kinda moot; at $39 I buy every example which looks like that regardless of grade. :)

The more I look at the "rim ding," the less sure I am of what it is. Numismatics, home of overthinking and analysis paralysis. :)

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

I'd call the OP's coin an attractive slider. It looks properly graded at 58, based on those pictures.
