I can't talk too long but. Did someone say Siliquae?!!! Congrats Anoob. Killer coin my friend! This coin exemplifies how the barbarians still paid lip service to the Eastern Emperors. Perhaps hoping to flatter the Eastern Augustus and avoid war?! I am currently eyeing a nice lot of 1/3 Siliqua and a few others from Ravenna. If any of you guys take em I'll kill you! JK Here a few of my favorites
Absolutely beautiful siliquae Magnus Maximus. The actual full siliqua is a denomination I still don't own but you guys are making me really want to pick one up. What is the second from last one that I've quoted above? I really, really like that one.
I think you mean this one That is one of my favorite Magnus Maximus Siliqua; I have not seen a Siliqua with a reverse that sharp and beautiful as this coin. Here is a close up of Roma Magnus Maximus AR Siliqua Trier mint 2.0 grams Most likely minted in the later part of MM's reign due to the low weight.
In doing some research on the coin I bought, I found 2 obverse die matches(but no reverse yet) in auctions in the past 5 years and thought I'd share here: My coin: Die match #1: Die match #2(was the first one I found and the first GIF I made so is not as smooth):
Sorry I didn't see this before Anoob. Nice catch for sure! And great price to boot! The Gepid siliqua I posted I almost had, but opted to go for a cheaper yet still awesome piece of Germanic silver (the Vandalic Honorius siliqua) with the money I had saved up to that point when I realized it would take longer than I thought to raise the money for it (I had it reserved)...
I actually ended up cancelling the order on the one I had before it shipped, decided I'd rather save up until I could get a nicer full-flan example. So if anyone else is still wanting one, PM me for the seller's info.
