On a number of occasions I have gone to 'Wildwinds' to find a specific coin, knowing that it is there because I have found it there before, or because I have been referred by another who has found it there, only to not be able to find it. This has perplexed me, and others that I have spoken to about it.

The answer is simple. If you do not put 'www.' before entering 'wildwinds.com' you will be guided to an 'older' version of 'wildwinds' and you will miss the thousands of pieces of updated information that have taken place over recent years.

To access the latest 'wildwinds' data (site) you must ensure that your 'bookmark states 'www.' followed by wildwinds.com or that you enter it in full by hand.

(This information has been confirmed to me by 'Wildwinds' management with a request to pass it on.)

    Thanks for that!

You know what's weird? Sometimes I can't access the website. I'll get an error like "Page not Found" or something similar. It will be weird that I might get it on my tablet then not on my computer or on my computer and not my tablet. Thankfully it will be one or the other and it's been a few weeks since I've had this problem.

I get the same thing as well! My personal computer always works but other ones never do.

What works for me is when that happens, if I try, again, pretty much straight away, I get through. Something to try.

This is a very easy fix on their end, I'm surprised they haven't figured out how to do it.

I have had tons of trouble accessing Wildwinds. Eventually, I made changes to my computer as described on another forum. I hated having to do that since I didn't understand what exactly I was changing nor did I know if it would adversely affect other things. The fix worked... for a while.

I have a new computer but everything was reinstalled and set like the old one (the computer on which I'd made the internet changes solely for the purpose of accessing Wildwinds). The new computer was accessing Wildwinds without any problem but in the last week or two the issue has recurred. I now resort to going through proxy servers but even then it's hit or miss... mostly miss.

Trying to alter my internet settings for the sole purpose of accessing Wildwinds is on my to-do list yet again, albeit not very high on the list.

Wildwinds is a free site and quite useful for me so I can't really complain. I did finally order the CD-ROM of the site, although obviously new coins are constantly being added and won't be on that disc.

I just fixed my computer again and this time it was simple since I'd done it before. Wildwinds is now fully accessible and fast-loading, yay!!

    I'm on a Mac.

    Network > Advanced > DNS

Click "+" to add IPv4 or IPv6 addresses
    Type 8.8.8.8
    Click the "+" again
    Type 8.8.4.4
Click apply or OK or whatever to make the changes stick.

    Mmhh...Mac.

I've seen some of the threads where the user computer settings were adjusted to make Wildwinds work...if one of my two devices work I'm just going to use that one. That site has been so much fun.

Actually, everything* seems to be loading faster now. Perhaps that DNS address is superior to whatever was there before the change.

*Everything except Forvm... that is by far the slowest-loading site I visit. Every page load takes 5-10 seconds :yack:.

Yep, me too! Different countries, different devices...doesn't change, still slow. But I've learned so much from the wiki, the forums, and browsed plenty of coins I'm not going to complain more than this. It's just weird it's slow.

I had a problem too ... but I noticed that for some unknown reason my address line changed to "https" instead of "http" ... I had to go back and remove the "s" before it took me to the correct site.
