Last night, Coin Vault was pushing the 20th Anniversary ASE set for $999.95 graded as NGC 69. At the same time, Coin Country was selling the same, also graded as NGC 69, for $649.00!

 

I thought "Coin Vault" wasn't on TV until TUESDAY nights?

I Like both ASE and AGE Versions

I orginally purchased just a single 20th Anniversery Silver set for $100, and opened it immediiately. After seeing how great the reverse proof looked, I decided that it would be the "1907 High Relief" equilavent coin of the modern set. I have since purchased an additional five PCGS MS-69 20th Anniv. Silver sets for ~$300 each, a single PCGS MS70 Silver Reverse Proof for $900, and a single PCGS RP70/MS69/PR69 Gold set for $5,300. Since then the opened silver set is up to ~$400, the five PCGS MS69 silver sets have jumped to ~$500 each, the RP70 Silver coin is stalled at $900, and the gold set is up nicely to ~$6,000. So, a healthy $2,000 gain on a $7,800 investment in four months.

I'm going to give my two kids one set each of the MS69's, and selling the remaining three MS69 sets when they hit $750. I'm keeping the rest for the long haul.

swick, I have Dish service which may be different than the TV provider you have. I believe, the Coin Vault and Coin Country were on between 10 - 11 PM (Pacific Time) last night on channel 224 and 219 respectively.

 

It's difficult to hear/feel through the thick packaging but every set that I opened (I opened 5 that I didn't submit) all of the coins were loose in the case. None of the clear holders were open but the coins were not in their slots. I don't think I ever heard of one being opened where the coins were found in their respective slots.

Did anyone else find their 3 coins loose in the case?

 

The coin vault dude , got to give him credit. Not many people can sell you something for twice what it is worth and convince you that they are saving you a whole lot of money. By the way this week they are starting their 19th anniversary sale, so watch out for specials. Can not wait till next year, their 20th anniversary. Maybe they will come out with a reverse proof of the big guy.

The big guy only sells coins, but the young one, Shawn, sells every thing form knifes, mattresses, sports cards...He really is a used car sales man, very pushy. I laugh when I see these guys in action.

 

i still have about 30 graded ase anniv. sets, 3 @70 the rest 69 all ngc, i think these are going to the moon depending on how long you hold out,there was an ebay auction (7 day) that had (5) sealed boxes of (10) sets for a starting bid of 28995.00 that was ending today so i called a friend and said we should make an offer on these....he agreed so i emailed the seller (a dealer) and offered 25,000.00 plus the 250.00 s&h certified funds today..............they respectfully declined.....this oughta tell ya something..........i was very surprised! and it closed with no bids............

 

I heard that when you send in for grading an ASE set unopened/as shipped they get a 20th Anniversary label on all 3 coins. But if you opened the shipping box then any coin could theoretically be switched out (except the Reverse Proof) and you'll only get the 20th Anniv label on the Reverse Proof. Because that is the only set it could have come from.
Can anyone confirm this. I bought 5 sets from the mint and may want to grade some at a later time.

 

that is correct.......i will also add that the 2006w unc in that set sells for over 500.00 in ms70 with the 20th anniv. label

 

I opened my 5 sets and most of the coins were out of their slots. I had to look!!! Next time I'll restrain myself.

 

I haven't opened mine - but I can hear a suspicious rattle. I want to have them graded - PCGS or NGC -
any opinions

 

most of them came out of the slots but not the actual holders,if they are still sealed i'd just watch the market,you can get them graded anytime, it may turn out that sealed down the road could be worth more......no need to decide now. just my opinion.....

 

These things are red hot. At all shows dealers are asking for them. I wouldn't have any of them graded, but that's just a personal preference.

Thing is , PCGS will not give a MS 70 grade on these and the 70's are selling for some serious bucks over the 69.

 

These prices are a result of a bubble. You can expect the hype to die down. Give your kids some savings bonds This is the way of collectors markets, from Tullips to Comics.

2006 20th anniversary 3 pc silver set

this set will go up to $1,000.00 per set soon. while that of 1995 w gold and silver set will also jump to 10,000 as set soon.
