Tomorrow I'm going to walk down the avenue and stop at all banks... Wish me luck!

Nice find! I just picked up a Canadian cents folder to give me something else to get excited about while searching pennies. The goal is to find a complete set pulled from circulation in the US - but I know some of those 20s & 30s dates will be really tough.

I too have been filling a book of Canadian pennies from US circulation. The banks around here dish em out, but won't take them back. I've got lots of CA nickels too. Fortunately have only found a few dimes, quarters, and dollars. <shrugs>

    This week I found a '32 George penny. :)

I've got a ziplock bag full of rejects. I figure I'll visit Montreal eventually.

Went to the bank yesterday and got some penny rolls. Two of them contained all wheat pennies from 1929-1958. A majority being in the 40's and 50's. But I still think it's neat and a rare occasion to get so many wheaties from a bank nowadays.

I went through 5,000 dimes and 5,000 pennies today. I found three silver Rosies and 25 wheaties (only one pre 1940s).

Went through a BWR box of pennies and $8.50 of CWR pennies today. The box had 20 wheats (one 1952 with luster and one a worn 1944-S), (2) 1968-S, 1971-S, 1973-S, 1974-S. The CWRs had a single wheat and a minty proof 2004-S!!!

The proof and the 44-S were sweet finds for me. Also finding so many wheats was cool. The last 2 boxes I went through had 11 and 9 wheat cents.

Most of the wheats were newer. The oldest one today was a 1940.

One more box of Loomis halves today...nothing worth keeping. Even the NIFC's were crummy.

Went through a box of nickels yesterday and churned up the following:

    1938-S
    1939-D
    1939 x 4
    1940s S mints x 4
    13 40s dates
    1943-P silver
    1943-S silver

It was one of my better nickel boxes lately - two semi or key dates in the same box. I found the '39-D after the other four and I didn't even think to look for the mintmark - then afterwards when I was going through the pile I flipped it over for the surprise.

Two boxes of cents were duds, all 2015-D and going to be sold to another bank in exchange for previously loved examples.

Dimes are easy to go through as I just look at the outer rim of the coin. Each roll takes me about 20 seconds.

Ah. I look at every one, as I'm still upgrading my coin book.

I've found that sometimes I'll miss a dirty rim silver dime when I just look at the sides. 3 of my silver Rosies turned up when I dutifully looked at each of the faces. Likewise with war nickels. Sometimes you'll find a clean rim silver nickel.

I would have missed many silver clad halves if I only rim searched. Sometimes they fool you.

I have seen some darkened silver dimes that I missed on edge searches, but the coin counter spit them back out. 40% can be a real stinker sometimes.

I just go by sound when I go through the coins since the stuff I get come in bags, sides dont really work but sound is always a good way to tell.

Finely passed the 1 million coins searched for the year milestone this week with the last bag of dimes I did.

    $415 CWR 10c
    1 1956-D
    1 1964-D

    $70 CWR 5c
    1 1939
    1 1940-S
    1 1941-S
    1 1952-S
    1 1954-S

Good grief, you would think I packed up and moved to the left coast with all those left coast nickels.

The $50 in CWR 1c are waiting until after work, or sometime this weekend.

Had a first for me. Went through a box of nickels and found a 1902 and a 1910 V nickel. I have never found anything older than buffalo's. Also pulled 2 silvers and a good stash of pre-1960's.
