What can you tell me about this one? I don't have any other CWTs (I think) and won't make sense to get Fuld book for one token. I'll probably eBay it, so what's a fair value in your opinion?

Post it as an auction starting at $0.99 and you'll find out what the fair value is.

I am away from home and my books right now. If someone else doesn't post the Fuld number and rarity I will after I get home. You're right Frank, the receded edge is not common on CWT's.

I didn't look it up, but the eBay linked auction listed it as:

    Fuld NY 630FX-22a copper Rarity-5

Of course, I'd trust you much more than eBay. ;)

Thanks for the vote of confidence.

OK, looked it up and confirmed it as a Fuld OH 165FX-22a. The new 3'd Edition of "U.S. Civil War Store Cards" by George and Melvin Fuld, edited by John Ostendorf shows that the rarity has been updated to R4, meaning that 201-500 are thought to exist. The old second edition lists it as R5. A great many rarity levels were updated in the third edition.

The EBay auction ended at $31, which seems quite reasonable for a R4 to me.

With good pics I would expect the OP's piece to bring $30-$50. Just a guess but a well timed auction with good pics should do well.

Located at 139 West 5th Street, Cincinnati OH, John Stanton, made store cards, sutler's tokens, watch checks, baggage checks, stamps, brands, and other engraving items.

How cool would that be to have this token and own one of the sutler tokens he made?

Nice pick up and a good price for an R-4 . I also agree with PennyGuy as he's my go to man on any CWTs I have a question with .
