1858 FE, large letters.

 

Just purchased this 1917-D Mercury in NGC MS65, old holder. It is a hair's breadth away from full bands and imho has better eye appeal than any of the 17D's I have seen on the market recently. I consider it a bargain at a small fraction of the price of a 65FB ($3K to $5K) or 66FB ($8k or more).

I may eventually submit for reconsideration. The chatter on the reverse bands may prevent this from ever going 66, though I have seen worse marks on many 66s.

 

Anyone want to tell me how fake this one is, ha. I've had it since at least the mid 80s, and I thought it had "copy" stamped on it but I can only see a small "R" at the left of the date.

 

Reacquired this 1853 Trime from my childhood collection, previously my great grandfathers.

 

1826 U.S. Classic Half Cent 2 more to go for completion of my set.

Two Heritage wins from the ANA show.

1895-O VAM 3A (Repunched 5, Bearded Eagle) AU53. Not a rare variety, but the coolest one for 95-O.



1873 $2.50 MS62 for my Prime Number Set. Three dates left for my 29-coin set (1747, 1753, 1931).

 

I figured. But i like the number 8 and there are 8 lines, so its a keeper still lol

 

Does anyone know what causes the beard marks?

 

My latest for my Roosy collection.

 

On this one, it's parts of the die flaking off during use. On many others, there's a clash mark from Liberty's hair that shows up in front of the eagle's neck. They are unrelated to each other, but bear the same nickname.

 

A scarcer emperor I needed that I picked up at a good price.
