My remarks of Russians is directed at the corrupt Oligarchs and the military. The Ukraine war shows how rotten and corrupt the military is. Executions of civilians, Soldiers, god knows what unspeakable horrors they commit. As for the general population I would not include them. They are coerced and treated like dogs. Back to coins now enough said.
On the contrary, Wise is a very good way to pay. They charge only about 1% when PayPal costs about 8% (4% fees to the recipient and 4% worse exchange rate than "mid-market" rate which Wise uses.) If Wise has some bad reviews somewhere, it may be false reviews from competitors trying to undermine their business. Do you really think PayPal deserves 8% of the money you send to a European seller? I much prefer to give Wise 1%. Or, would you rather give a credit-card company 4%? Money is now moved with bits and bytes, which is super cheap to do. PayPal may have been first to think of making moving money so convenient, but years have passed and there are now better ways. Zelle (dollars, in the US only) is one and Wise (between currencies) is another.
I've used Wise for years and there is nothing comparable to the cost of the transaction when paying in other currencies. It's easy to setup an account linking to your bank account, and quick to make payments, especially if you've used Wise to pay the auction firm before as it remembers the details.
There’s always someone else that sells coins. The trick is in finding the right coin at the right price.
