i agree with mrs red_spork, that is a lovely coin! i am embarrassed to admit that i only have 1 coin of aurelian, and it's pretty bad.....never took a pic and i'm not going to. some things are best left unseen. so i just purchased a new one, i'll post it here when it comes in...and let you know if mrs chrsmat71 approves.
I succumbed to mixed lot fever not long ago (curses, @zumbly!) and the coins finally arrived. There area few Aurelians in there. This is the nicest of the bunch. Aurelian AE Antoninianus, silvered Rome mint Obv: IMP AVRELIANVS AVG; radiate cuirassed bust right Rev: ORIENS AVG; Sol standing left with hand raised, foot on one of two bound captives, Q in right field, XXI in exergue Ref: RIC Vi 62, Cohen 154, Sear5 11572.
well, here it is. this one really isn't much better looking than my other one...but it is presentable. Aurelian Potin Tetradrachm of Alexandria, Egypt. Year 5 = 274-275 AD. O: A K L DOM AVPHLIANOC CEB, laureate, cuirassed bust right R:ETOYC Epsilon, star left, eagle standing left, head right, with wreath in its beak. Milne 4422, 20 mm, 8.4 g
I've always really liked these tetradrachms but I still don't have any Roman coins from Alexandria. I really need to change that.
