With the beginnings of the legend on both the Obv. and the Rev. sides 'missing', coupled with my limited knowledge (but I am learning) I haven't been able to identify (attribute) this coin. Would someone help me, please? It appears to be Billon, 16 mm, and weighs 1.9 gm. (I have tried Lucius Verus, Domitianus, Septimus Severus, Postumus (et al).
Septimius Severus L SEPT SEV PE-RT AVG IMP VII, laureate head right / P M TR P IIII COS II P P, Fortuna standing left, holding rudder on globe in right hand, cornucopiae in left. RSC 423.
Mat got it. It's a nice example, TC. A little light weight and off center but certainly a nice Septimius Severus Denarius. It's around 41-%45 Silver so I don't know if you could call it Billon.
Thanks, Mat. I appreciate that. M.M. - That is more silver than I thought. Maybe I should collect those? (Lol)
