Hey, what do you guys think of the logos I created for my ebay account? Some of them might contain too many frames to work well on older machines. But if you have a good computer you should be able to see the animations pretty well. Which one do you think I should use in my ads? 1 http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w129/TopLineDmpls/Logos/01.gif 2 http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w129/TopLineDmpls/Logos/02.gif 3 http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w129/TopLineDmpls/Logos/03.gif 4 http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w129/TopLineDmpls/Logos/05.gif
Number 1 looks nice. The 4 texts that appear around the corners should be there for the entire gif if you want to include them. Though in my opinion they are too dark, and most people will not notice them. Number 2's scrolling black text doesn't come out well at all. Number 3 has the same problem as 2. It also has the wipe effect, which is not something you want on a banner that people will be scrolling by. They may actually miss the image. Sorry if I sounded overly critical there, I'm majoring in graphic design. . I would go with number 4. May I ask what program(s) you used?
I would suggest not having animations on a logo----for someone such as myself still on slow internet (I also run a few programs that don't even show animations unless I click on it and say...play--that is to help make my speed faster) all they do is slow down the page loading and when the page loads show most of the time I click STOP and go somewhere else. Like the ones you have above---they are all taking sooo long to load that I can only view ONE....the rest I had to stop. I do alittle bit of web designing and one thing that we always try to do is to make the page load as fast as we can....I like the ideas---colors---and design...but would suggest getting rid of the animations. Speedy
I have to agree. I have looked at the images with both an older, slower PC and newer, much faster and I find the animation does not load well except for a _very_ fast machine. I also found the animations to not really stand out and draw attention to them (which is what you would want with animation). I find the basic logo great just by itself, I found it to be very eye appealing. The one suggestion I would make on the base logo would be to try to provide a more realistic DMPL Morgan. The one that is there does not show the contrast I would expect to see on a DMPL coin.
There is an Ebay seller whose writeups are over 100 kbytes in length with lots of logos, animations. They take a long time to download on a dialup connection and I wonder how many customers he loses. A sample: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140102789850
If you want a "professional opinion" from someone who designs ads all day long lose the animation. The basic banner design is solid.
Very nice looking Graphics, but I have to agree on not using the animations.... I've got a fast connection and a decent machine and they were kinda slow to load....
dialup connection? wait...it will come to me.... hmmm....I remember hearing that phrase before...oh yeah :headbang: as I waited....waited....waited.... ....
I agree that the basic banner idea is very solid. I also would not use any kind of animation on a logo. It's fun to play with, but in the end, clumsy and slightly unprofessional looking IMO. Always remember, in logo design, simpler is better. Very nice looking designs though.
Jasc Animation Shop 3. Pretty nifty software, IMO. I am leaning toward #4 since it is the most simple. I have high speed internet so I don't know what the animations would look like loading on a 56K modem; does the whole page slow down or do the animations just look blocky? Of course on an ad there would only be one so the page would load a lot faster (than when there's four different GIFs, like on this page).
I just changed 1, 2, and 3 to links so #4 will load faster on this page. Does anyone have a 56K connection so they can tell me how fast the page loads with animation 4 only? Thanks.
Frankly, if you hadn't told me that it was animated, I would have never seen it. It took way to long and that little underline is so subtle that if I hadn't been looking for it, it wouldn't register. The logo holds no interest for me, it's the shiny rounds things under it that do.......
I'm going to have to jump on the no animation bandwagon here. The basic design is clean, pleasing to the eye, and solid and really doesn't need anything more. In fact, the animation might be a bit distracting. I'd keep the underline (unanimated), as it makes a good separator for the store name and your speciality.
And this one goes on my page. I think it may be a bit much for slower connections though. Click on the me icon above to view it.
