This weighs 27.4g and certainly doesn't look silver.....has reeded edge but rather smooth.....came as part of group of world coins posted earlier.
It is a replica of a 1921 China "Fat Man" Dollar . The reeding is incorrect, the design is mushy & there is casting slag or rust pitting all over the piece. It should weigh 26.4 grams as well.
The most obvious sign is if you can read Chinese, it says five yuan on the reverse instead of one. There was never such coin struck.
I do know about Chinese coins so I didn't buy this thinking it was bona fide. All I was seeking was is this a common fantasy as it's not really attempting to purport itself as a genuine coin as gxseries points out re the denomination..........
just saw this online............ http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1914-Chin...0bcf1c&pid=100170&rk=6&rkt=15&sd=351457628198
