True, except for the long term part. No one knows what the demand will be long term. The mintage is low enough on all these sets to send them to the moon given the appropriate demand.

  3. I wonder is the dollar bill will be sought after by paper money collectors and led to the increased mintage.

I haven't seen a 2014 enhanced sacky in person yet - is it a nice look or just a must have for a complete set??

I bought 5 of the 2014 set. Sold one, gave one to a nephew and still have 3 (with consecutive numbers on the bills). Not sure if I should buy 3 to match the 3 I have, or buy 5 and plan to give one to the nephew at Christmas again.

I think for the price, $15 or so, it is a "collectable" compared to say proof sets where millions are made. Definitely makes a great gift - I may get a few extras also!!!

  13. Same I would definitely like to know about the missing sets. I wanted to buy 2 Eisenhower sets but in all the computer lag and stuff I one got one Eisenhower set and we somehow accidentally got a 2014 FDR set

Judging by the terrible quality of these sets, I would imagine some were just not worth having and were sent back and destroyed. Or maybe the mint will try to sell them someday.

If I were to guess, the remaining 200 are probably set aside as "gifts" to politicians, dignitaries and bureaucrats, etc...

I'm not sure why, but this really creeps me out. It feels a lot like the "coins" with the pop-up WTC.

That and the price will guarantee an early sell-out IMO. Maybe not 15 minutes, but not more than a few days. We'll see.....

  19. Even with 90K mintage, this set will likely go to backorder status day 1 or early day 2.
