This is clearly feedback manipulation. Please use this link to report this ebay rules violation. Also, if you are thinking of bidding on this item do so with caution as you will likely be suspected of assisting in his dishonest scheme.
Paypal would take a fee and then you wouldnt actually get anything. Or do they let you send a penny free.
OMg .. the things people will do .. for me, i didnt even know feedback manipulation was against the rules.. i didnt hink it was right either.. its just nto something that EVER crossed my mind... some people have some VERY creative minds to come up with this stuff!!!
Paypal only charges a fee to receive money through Paypal. Paypal doesn't charge anything at all to send money. (In other words, the burden of Paypal's fees always falls on the recipient, not the sender, of any money.)
why would anybody buy a penny? there is no profit..what about bank transactions? credit card transactions? are these people nuts? lol
this is no different than having to "create" feedback with those stupid e-books. at least this is clear about what you are getting and the reason is obvious. it's not manipultion - you are getting something from the purchase and you aren't required to leave feedback... eBay's days in the limelight are fast drawing to a close - who trusts anyone there? -Steve
If you read the auction, he does not actually send you a coin. You send him $0.01 via PayPal, after which he will send you $0.02 via PayPal. According to PayPal's website, when you recieve money, the fees at the end of the month will be (2.9% + $0.30) if you recieve anything between $0.00 - $3,000.00. And since $0.02 falls in this category, you will be billed for $0.30 ($0.30058) at the end of the month. And so will the seller. Seller: -$0.31 Buyer: -$0.29 PayPal: $0.60
Hard to say. The forum member is vipergts2 and the EBayer is 22vipergts22, so they may or may not be the same person. Maybe he will stop by this thread and tell us.
As much as I hate to admit it, It was me. Probably not the smartest thing I have ever done. I was curious if this guy was accually going to send two cents in the mail. I didn't read the auction close enough to see it was jus a paypal credit. Oh well , It's probably not the dumbest thing I have ever done in my life. Hopefully this issue will die in peace.
Well - do you mind posting if paypal hits you with 30 cents. I never heard that. If you do not get hit with 30 cents then I do not see where you did nothing wrong. Of course I would not leave feed back - but that is up to you. One of the things I do on sellers is to review(if available) some of their closed auctions - just to form my own opinion.
There is never a fee for the buyer. I'm guessing the seller just refunds the pp payment at 2c instead of 1c. If done this way, the pp fee is refunded to the seller and the buyer just has an extra cent in his pp account.
The seller also winds up with e-mail addresses with paypal accounts. I would watch for phishing scams.
