Before I buy a digital camera and learn how to be a coin photographer, I decided to post the few silver denarii I still have in my possession. The following coin represents Empress Plautilla who was the wife of Caracalla, son of Septimius Severus. It weighs 3.13 g. The reverse shows Pieta holding a child. Always glad to read your comments.
Plautilla has been a soft spot for me for quite a long time, and I'm always happy to see a coin of hers. Through time I've been able to put together all the types of denarii that had been minted in her name, i.e. 14 different types for Rome ond 3 for Laodicaea Plautilla overview A virtual tray showing obverses and reverses of all the silver coins minted for Plautilla that I could find. Including 14 types of denarii from Rome featuring all the known variations of hairdo and reverses, 3 types of denarii from Laodicaea, and as a bonus, a drachm from Caesarea Q
very nice 7C, those obverse details are razor sharp....and dang Q, that's a fantastic group of plautilas.
Great coin, 7Charles .... oh, and very cool Q-tray!! (wow) Ummm, I happen to have a pretty cool Plautila ... yummy
