This isnt my coin, i snapped a quick photo for opinions from you fine folks. I didnt have my scales so i couldnt weigh it...with that said, a red flag went off while looking @ this today. I noticed a copperish color inside the divot in front of liberty's mouth. Does this coin look legit to you guys???
Can you explain why the divot in front of her mouth is gold or copper colored??? It makes the coin look sandwich-clad.It only shows up in the top photo
I believe the color your referring to is just tarnish/toning of a golden color. Im no early US coinage expert but as Nevadabell said, id be surprised if this was a fake.
Well thanks for the opinions fellas If i could, id like to direct everyone over to my other thread (1802 cob MO 8R chopmarks) which can be found in Coin Chat ForumOops wrong happy face ..... Have a wonderful day
Great topic here. I saw 2 SLQs at the ANA show, both PCGS certified. In my dreams, if I ever have a chance to buy a 1916 SLQ, it will certainly be certified.
It appears to be the 1805 B-2 variety on account of the squiggly line below the second cloud from the left. I think it might be a die clash? If it's a fake then it's a really good one. http://www.ngccoin.com/coin-varieti...raped-bust-and-capped-bust-quarters-vscid-10/
