Do any of you stamp collectors remember back in '95 when the Marilyn Monroe stamps were being issued by the US?
Oh yeah. It sold like hot cakes but not as good as the Elvis stamp. The newest stamp out is Elvis again but I don't think this will be as popular.
My wife has a sheet of those 29c Elvis Stamps. Tried to sell em on eBay and there wasn't a hint of any interest at all which basically means, they were popular at the time but today, they're just another 29 cent stamp.
I think they also flooded the market with them. If I remember right, it was one of the highest printing for a stamp to that date.
It was the highest number of stamps ever issued. Still is I believe. It was issues as the law allowed after his death so he was still popular. Of course, the hype helped.
