Maybe this has been asked before, but I have a couple of questions about CoinManage software. 1. Does it actually stop working after the 30-day trial, or does it pull a "winrar", where the 30 day trial never expires. 2. Does it come with free updates every year or do you have to buy the newest one every year? Thanks!
I bought the software in 2013, don't remember what might have happened at expiration. However I can say I had to buy the 2015 version in order to keep getting database updates. I don't really mind, as I like the software and it works well. There is a discount for updates as opposed to new purchases.
What is the best Coin Management Software for someone with US coins (type, commems, etc and Govt sets)? Thanks.
I'm using Excel to keep track of my coin collection. It's a little more work because you need to put in more of the information vs having the software pre-populate it for you. However what I have experienced in the past, especially being on a Mac, is that the specialized software became unavailable after some time. The developer stopped updating the software and so eventually I could not use it. With Excel that is very unlikely to happen since it's used by so many people and for so many different reasons. So to me, the extra work I put in, is worth it in the end.
Coin Manage is built on top of Microsoft Access, so just like Excel you could continue to update the database yourself if the author ever stops updating for us.
That's assuming you know how to work a database or that the OS doesn't break the app even if you update it on your own
Here's a trick: every year CoinManage releases a 30-day demo of their most current version. So... If you save your data and then export it into the latest demo, and then save that data again, you could conceivably have up to date coin values forever!
I learned the basics of setting up a database, creating forms for data entry, and how to generate basic reports so I could catalog my ancient collection. It's well worth the effort and all I did was follow a free tutorial (think it was from quakit.com or something like that).
I use Coin Manage and I like it overall. I have alot of varieties and that can be a pain because I have to manually add most of these to the database. It's a very functional piece of software and can run some nice reports. Also, it stops working after 30 days.
I used excel for a while, but it was too annoying to check values for the thousands of coins I have... Coinmanage has it preloaded so thats very conveinent.
I've compared a lot of software and coin manage thus far seems to be the best...My 30 day trial is about to expire, so I'll be looking for a serial number or crack to continue to use it....It may be the best but it is also very expensive by comparison.
I was looking at software and didn't want to pay the price but I have Office which has Access so now I have my own software. Yes, it doesn't populate my coins with someone else's pictures or give optimistic market values...but it could! No cracks needed and I learned something.
There was a software program a few members here bought called ExactChange. That program looks pretty good and I would seriously consider it if I was seriously collecting U.S. I might go for it. Website is ExactChange.com I think.
