What is a 12 Caesars set?

Thank you for the compliment. I have this set displayed on my desk in a custom made wooden case my son had made just for it.

 

I am glad you do display it. It would be a shame to lock it up in a bank safe... I love denarii silver; this set is worth your 30 years of Search and Destroy Missions.

 

I've let it sit as is for over a couple of years. Now I want to watch to upgrade many of the coins, but I keep getting distracted with other coins.

Hmmm, the most expensive single coin I've ever purchased would be about $800.00 in today's money and I;m straining to purchase a few examples that may go a bit over a grand each---so I guess those $2 Mil types are a little beyond my means LOL

A set of low grade copper, and silver coins will cost around 800 dollars, a good set of high grade silver coins will cost upwards of 3000 dollars. Yes, it will be hard to assemble.

 

12 coins...$800...about $70/coin

 

I'm 3 deep into mine. It's not my main focus...but it's happening all the same.

 

Which ones do you have? I still need 6 of them.

The thought just struck me that many people try for the first twelve but where are the sets of the last twelve? That would be the Western Emperors starting with Honorius and ending with Romulus Augustulus. Most of us have Honorius but the other eleven will take longer.

 

I've be searching for a slabbed Caligula willing to spend thousands of dollars with no luck. Now it's starting to feel like that sick (...) is reaching through time trying to rob me!

Do you mean the only slabbed example you found? While Caligula's denarii are not plentiful, there are regularly seen in auctions, usually (and thankfully) not slabbed. For upcoming auctions, search Numisbids and Sixbid. You can also set up a Want List on those sites (and on CNG) and they'll send an email when matches are listed. For fixed price options try Vcoins.

I understand you people hate slabs but there's people out here like me that just can't risk raw but still want the coin. If I knew what I was doing I'd be buying, slabbing putting them on Heritage and making $1000 a coin off people like me. Feeling frustrated

 

@TIF - I have been living on the sites you mentioned for a week. Most disturbing was acsearch.info . This search "caligula denarius augustus with" resulted 21 matches with exact photo of the exact same coin 6 times at different auctions.
