Well, I have accumulated a lot of culls and whatnot, and would like to see them wind up in the hands of an inexperienced YN who would be able to appreciate them, and hopefully foster their interest. You don't have to be a YN to enter, you simply have to have someone in mind to give them to. First person to reply please PM the address you would like the coins shipped to.

    Thanks,
    Zane

    Sorry everyone,
I should have posted sooner, the contest was ended, and the winners have had their items mailed to them. I will be having more contests in the near future.

Not to sound rude, or speak for the contest holder, but contests don't normaly exstend prizes becuase of more people saying "i want some".

I got mine in today and al I have to say is... WOW!!!
Much more than culls! A great toned merc, looks BU, a dark but colorful silver nickel, again seems BU, and a 1950-s quarter with great luster! Thanks much!!!!

OOOO, and a 1964 dime which I just noticed in a proof. Golden toning on the back and a colorful obverse. Is there anyway to get some of the grime off without hurting the tone or coin?

Is the '65 quarter a proof?

That quarter came from a special mint set. Proof sets were not made between 65-67. Instead they issued sets containing one coin of each denomination, and many of them appear prooflike in appearance. I don't think there is any way to get any of the grime off that dime. It seems crusted on, but you may want to try a soak in pure acetone. If you do do this, make sure you do it outside, and keep it away from heat sources, and try not to get it on your skin.

cool, I don't have anything from a special mint set.
