I was jsut looking through a lot of foreign coins I have and saw the date on this 2 francs coin from 1923. I was just wondering if this was a common error on the date or something a little better. Any help ios greatly appreciated.

im not sure about the '2' in the date, as i am not well versed in the design, but the extra outline around the '9' and '2' looks to me like mechanical doubling.

IMHO, the doubling on the Date and what appears to be a (but actually may not be) Die Chip in the "2" of the Date, appears that it may be an OverDate Variety! In most cases, an OverDate occurs when two Master Dies with different Dates are used to make a Master Hub or two Master Hubs are used to make a Working Hub. I would wait and see what Mike Diamond has to say about the coin but it definitely should be looked at more closely by a Professional!

    It's a doubled date.
