Huge difference. It doesn't even look like the same coin, or, at best, that I cleaned it up. I swear I did nothing to it. My wife even asked if I cleaned it. Then she asked how the two images could be so different. My answer: I dunno.

I'm using two desk lamps with 25 watt incandescent bulbs. And, generally speaking, I try not to shine the lights directly onto the coin, but rather bounce the light in order to cut down on the glare. It's not always successful.
Really, I did not clean this coin. According to my catalog, it's a coin I acquired six years ago. My catalog is incomplete for this entry failing to show where I got it and the price I paid. But it is one of those coins I purchased that I must have been disappointed with and just filed away, for this is the first I've looked at it in a very long time (maybe since I got it). And this is the first I've looked at it as a positive. Sure, it's not the best nor the rarest coin out there, but it's a heck of a lot better than the original images imply. Really, coins like this one almost make me happy I have to re-image all my coins. Truly, it's like rediscovery time for me.

Once again, no spectacular change; however, this is one of those coins I almost never look at. And the new reverse image reminds me of the cartoon "Spy vs Spy"

Reverse has too much shadow for my liking.

Reimaging coins is a lot cheaper than buying new ones. Maybe I'm seeing a really good idea here.

I've only purchased a small handful of coins since I've been re-imaging. I'm handling coins I haven't touched since near the time of purchase. It's all like new coins.
