The toning is cool. But environment has a lot to do with it. No slab is perfectly sealed against the elements. I would keep an eye on the progress of the toning, if you see a spot or spots beginning to appear, that is not a good sign. So far so good I like it thanks for sharing and good luck.

Proof coins tone differently than the circulation strikes. They begin with haziness that may turn into attractive toning. Just keep an eye on it

It is a personal thing. Some folks like this type of toning and many don't. Usually, these IKS can be restored to as new condition.

OK, how would this be done?

Acetone wouldn't do it, and a dip would eat away at the mirrored surfaces, so what would be done in this situation?

    I don't plan to, but I'm curious.

Even though the slab says "packaged by the Mint," they were slabbed by a third party, so I believe the quality of the seal is iffy. If the toning doesn't bother you, just keep an eye on it. If it does, maybe the slab could be resealed with something?

Most of this color you are seeing is haze. Really common on these Ikes. No really good way of trying to remove it.

Just put it into a ziplock with a sacrificial coin and a small desiccant pack. This coin is telling you your storage sucks.

Not a secret at all. It is done the same way any coin is properly dipped. I would suggest leaving Ikes as this alone because then they are wanted by the "toning guys" and the guys who cannot wait to dip them.

Have you ever tried Verdi-Care on this type of haze?

Once long ago, VC is not effective for this application IMO.

Nice Ike but that’s a haze from storage conditions. I’d leave as is and place the entire holder into a ziplock bag. I’d also keep my eye on it to see if it gets darker.

This year ike dollar does this a lot in those GSA holders. They changed the composition of the plastic of that holder that year. That's why other years don't tone quite like the 74s. I have some of these i bought for the toning.
