Out of scope yet a keeper. These large flan Harz Talers depict the baptism scene of Jesus in the Jordan River. There are different years and varieties and are available to purchase with relative availability. However, a 2 Taler piece is much tougher to find, especially in a problem free state, as these were made into Jewelry pieces. 64mm in diameter this is some piece of metal.

As interesting for me is the way it was purchased - poolside on vacation, kids running around, using my iPhone to make the bid in a weak cell area. I guess it was meant to be.

ND (1680). Harz, Zellerfeld. Baptisimal 2 Taler. 63.7mm, 52.35 grams. KNY-7295. Bachtell-1736. Obv: Angels watch St. John baptizing Jesus in the Jordan, in the Name of the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. Rev: Legend He who believes and is baptized will be made holy. At center is a nine-line prayer to the Trinity from Galatians and Epistle of Peter, '2' punched below. NGC AU-55.
