Ah. I see what you mean when I click on the image and zoom in. Still, very minor in my opinion. Those scratches wouldn't have discouraged me from buying it either.
There are a few other too that can't be seen in the picture. They are light and I think cleaning related. It's a lovely coin and the images are seriously what this coin looks like in hand - except for what I mentioned. This thread is venturing into "erudite numismatic discussion..." so I present:
Wow, thanks gang!! Yah, I just logged back on and was blown-away by your awesome birthday antics!! => you guys rock!! Please keep those birthday coins a comin' Cheers
Steve - I thought long and hard about what to post in your birthday thread, and I couldn't come up with anything. Then it hit me in a flash of genius - cakes have icing, so how about a coin with icing? I have no idea whether this Constantinople commem is gold-colored because the original silvering toned that way, or if it was gilded in antiquity, or later. But it is what it is - a coin with icing. Happy birthday bro... (This is one case where I would like to have Doug's superpower of being able to trace a coin's history through all its owners.)
Since we are talking about NOT being Shot... I thought I would post one of my Shot-up Athena Owls... She is so good, she will take a Bullet for ya on on B'day! Happy Birthday, Young Man! May this be the worst of all the B'days to come! Best to you! Brian LOL, these are my RAW pics... LOL, looks like the dogs are saying Happy Birthday too!!! (They had a fight that day, and fur flew EVERYWHERE!!!)
A Batman coin is one that one of our ol' coin buddies (Dionysos) sold to us ... he got the handle "Batman" because we'd call him whenever we needed his comment on a potential fake ... we'd send-out the bat-signal in an attempt to get his opinions
Yes, it's a Batman coin, but unless he has Doug's superpower, I doubt he can shed any light on it. Here's something fun - that fanam of Tipu Sultan I posted last week arrived yesterday, finger for scale...
Happy B'day Steve, with many returns. But remember you will ever be 3 years late (I'm 55) Here's yur birthday argenteus : Constantius, Argenteus Antioch mint, 8th officina, c. Actually, it's the wifes'........she loves ancient coins as well as Papal coins and all sorts of foreigns. I keep her small collection along with my vast holding of moderns....
Happy Birthday Steve! Here's the first Ancient I ever purchased - I'm still working on getting better photographs of these coins, then I'm going to go back and fully attribute them. Anyway: Roman Imperial, Silver issue of Caracalla
How about my favorite Rev and Obv, lately? Just photographed the Istros Drachm again and a new Calabria Nomos, yesterday.
Not my favorite coin but one that I feel appropriate for an animal coin lover like you. We have discussed these so often I'l just say they are a crock of crocs.
Wow, thanks again fellas (and gals) ... awesome coin posts!! Man, you guys have some beautiful coins, eh? (congrats to everyone!!) Thanks for posting your croc-coins, Doug (I'm super jealous of your crocodile "float" => yes, a litter of crocodiles is called a float, my mentorish coin-pal) Oh, and Noob => I just saw your cool thread-addition (well played, my giggity friend!!)
