So I need you guys to help me understand what I have wrought with todays love affair. I got the MA Shops email and the photo of this coin whispered sweet nothings in my ear so I bought it. The coin is apparently called a DONAUWÖRTH REICHSMÜNZSTÄTTE. All the description on the MA Shops page is in German so I don't have a clue. I just fell in love with the old coin.... What have I purchased?
I have no idea what it is, but you are right about the appearance of it looking good. Pictures can alter colors, but it appears to be silver. Is that what it is. I'll go out on a limb here and say mexican.
I will paste my reply from your other thread here as well Nice coin Randy. Is it a uniface issue? If so, it could be this one. Crowned adjacent figures of the king and queen Constance queen of Sicily standing over wall. In between a cross staff with a 5 pointed star above. Rings on the sides. On the outside of the rim 12 arches with alternately crosses or rings within. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces110525.html
You are not addicted/ but very smart to buy such a beautifull Medieval piece I have also looked up stuff on MA-shops and hit the buy button right away/ never once regretted it. John
Don’t hold me to this Randy as any German I know is extremely rusty. Lol. I believe you have a medieval coin from the town of Donauworth, Germany in the Bavaria area. It is a town that serves as the capital for that district. It was founded where the Danube and Wornitz rivers meet. It may have something to do with Nurenberg Germany. Probably made somewhere between the 11-15th century’s. That’s the best I can do and not sure how much is accurate. Beautiful coin and I would have bought it myself.
And another one down Another one down Another one bites the dust ! Beware the power of the dark side Randy !
