Here is my new India, Maurya punch mark I acquired a few weeks ago.

Anyone know the punches/info on it?

There are a few of us who like punch mark coins, and personally love them. You are right about the coin being Mauryan dynasty. This would most likely Series IV based on apparent thickness, dating between the 4th and 2nd cent. BC. The correct term for your "Punch mark" is Karshapana. I like Panjak Tandon's website.

Nice, crisp punches on that coin. I have neither the references nor the expertise to size these things up. THCoins verified the attribution on mine - perhaps he'll come along and help.

BTW - there evidence that the Karshapana of this type was in use well into the second century AD, and served as silver coinage under the Kushan in the east.
