My Dad just gave me about40 Indian head pennies. They were my Gradfathers, and he just found them rummaging through the attic. 12 of them are in real good shape I mean like lines on the headpiece feathers, and the word liberty. The others range from good to bad to one that looks like it came between a track and a locomotive. No mint marks so I am guessing the are all P. Thought I'd share.

Yes what are the dates. Are any of them flying eagles or all Indian Cents? None will have a mint mark except possibly the 08 or 09 and that would be an S. See if any are a 1864 and look carefully for a small L just below the last feathers. Be carefull with those. Some in the condition you mention could be up in the thousand dollar area. edited

Check on the reverse on the bottom of those 1908's for a small 'S'.
    That would be very nice.

If the 1885 is in higher grade that would be very nice too, but they are all nice, just to have some coins that belonged to your Grandfather is cool.

post the rest of the dates! from the dates, i can tell you that the 1908, 1907,1904, and 1889 are worth around 70 cents. the 1896 and 1895 are worth around 75 cents. and the 1885 is a little bit scarcer. its worth around $2.75. these are just estimates of what they are worth. give me some pictures and the dates, and i can tell.
