    Q):
In the auction listings here, how does bidder #2 know what he must offer, to outbid bidder #1 ???

Unless I've missed something, then the only way to let bidder #2 know that he must offer more, to outbid #1, is to Copy N Paste bidder # 2's offer, in user 'Conversations', BACK TO bidder #1.

    (with permissions, of course)

Then between themselves ( bidders #1 and #2), they can confirm that seller isn't bluffing.

... unless I'm missing something in the auction protocols ???

Think you're the only one who has auctions here. How do you run it?

If you are talking about the Fourms>Advertising>Auction Listings here https://www.cointalk.com/forums/auctions/

then that is for letting folks here know the *LINKS* to your auctions other places, I believe. It's not a forum to actually hold an auction in. If you look the listings there will only have links to ebay, HA, and other online auctions.

It would be cool to have an auction right on the forum. Coincommunity has an auction section along with "pocket it now" listing options. Doesn't get used much lately, but I think it would be more popular here. Wonder if it's been suggested before.

I didn't know that 'Auction Listings' are done 'off of' cointalk boards, and that they're not actually conducted ON the boards here.

    My ignorance...

APART from that fact, wouldn't LOCAL / ON CT boards auctions work, as I posted???

(short of Administrators modifying software, of course, so that each bidder could see that he must bid more)

We do not want CoinTalk to be an auction venue, or a sales venue of any kind. The only reason the ad sections are there at all is to provide a small level of convenience for our members. To allow them to buy, sell and trade among themselves, via private transactions, if they wish to do so.

CoinTalk does not want to have any involvement in those transactions at all, and will not.

The purpose of the forum is for collectors to be able to share their hobby, share their knowledge, ask questions and get answers, make friends, and just plain have fun with other collectors.

In the future, you may find it far easier to send a private message. But in any case, even like my reply to you on my Profile page, you are still notified that a response was posted. You just didn't notice that notification in your Alerts.

Your post violated forum rules. You are not allowed to do what you did in the regular sections of the forum. What did you do ? You were talking about items in the ad sections, and even had a link to them. None of that is allowed.
