The hole gives it character. Nice coin, great reverse.

Wow Oki, I absolutely love that stag biga!! (very, very cool)

... too bad about the hole ... but as Bing mentioned, I guess it kinda gives it character?!!

Man, that baby is now on my wish-list!!

As you probably know, I have a stag biga example as well (one of my favourite coins)

Lucius Axius L.f. Naso AR Denarius

    Rome mint
    circa 71-70 BC
    Diameter: 18 mm
    Weight: 4.04 grams
Obverse: Helmeted head of Mars right, wearing crested helmet with plumes; XV¯ to left
Reverse: Diana driving biga of stags right; behind, two dogs running right; below, dog running right

    Lucius Axius.jpg

NOTE => I think that it's kind of interesting that this sweet coin has XV¯ on the obverse and the reverse, eh? (rather than XVI or *)

=> brothers, this particular coin certainly cost me more than 16!!

Nice coin, the hole is quite intriguing though...

Why would anyone pierce it to show emperor´s head down?

Why is it in such a good state if it (supposedly) was used as a pendant?

=> maybe so the dude wearing it would see the emperor right-side-up when he looked down at it?

Stag Biga's ?? Damn, another 'variety' I HAVE to have..

I recall having an example also 'holed' and used as ancient jewelry or as a pendant---and it also is of Hadrian....

How many others have any like that?? And are they of other Emperors (as one would imagine) or just something peculiar to Hadrian. Of course, I mean that desire to use an emperor's coin as 'jewelry' during ancient times.
