So I just recently started collecting coins, I'm 36. My Gramps came to visit and gave me these for helping him with some odd jobs he needed done. He said he has a bunch more from my Grandmother who past a few years ago. Big silver dollars, old pennies, nickles, halves ect....
@LuckyDoggy Be sure to check for the newest DDO discovery.....1919-P.....Strong doubling on IN GOD WE TRUST. Chris
Judging from the reeded edges, it looks like you may have some higher grade examples in those tubes.........Consider getting this...... https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-c...eference-on-mercury-dimes-book-published.html And this. He sounds like a nice grandfather. Since you're new to collecting, buy a Yeoman Red Book and forget the prices. He's a bit high over reality but it's full of good information for a new collector. You need to find out about this hobby, how to be successful and build something with value over time. You also need to discover where your interest in coins really is. I love a lot of them, including the Merc's.
You don't necessarily need the cotton gloves, just have clean hands and handle the coins by the edge. Increases your dexterity.
How about posting the dates and mint marks you got? From the photos, it looks like they are all in immaculate condition, like grandpa grabbed them in the 1940s and hung on to them!
