This is very dirty, I think it has potential to look a lot better, when I can get around to it. It feels a solid little coin. Trebonianus Gallus Coin: Silver Antoninianus IMP C C VIB TREB GALLVS AVG - Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right. IVNO MARTIALIS - Juno seated left, holding corn ears and sceptre. Mint: Mediolanum (252-253 AD) Wt./Size/Axis: 4.58g / 22mm / - References: RIC 69.
Cool. Yours is much better than the one I have. I would like to have this baby in my collection. Congrats!
Cool Juno reverse, my friend ... man, did you discover a hoard, or what? (how many coins did you buy?!!)
IMHO cleaning it would be as likely to ruin it as not. These are on the border of billon and basest 'silver' where revealed porosity would make it look a lot worse than dirt.
dang pish....my "like" button hand has cramped up. what a great group of new coins. i'll just comment on the group here since i'm kind of just making a quick drop in tonight. this TG guy is on my "hit list" however, relatively high up. i'd leave this one as well...i like the orange highlights.
DS I hear you! Gave this a soak and a bit of a rub with the thorn of a hawthorne (freely available at the cottage) and a lot of the surface dirt has come off. There is quite a bit of green visible under the scope, barely to the naked eye, so I will leave that alone. These were taken outside, but it is going to rain any minute, hence different colour from the first pic taken yesterday.
