I'm really thinking of creating threads related to some of the most ridiculous items listed on Ebay under Error Coins - I spend so much time laughing and just SMH ..When I see these items I'm in total disbelief! Especially the prices that are set by the sellers. Here is a great example - What do you think it is Error or PMD?
Look at the 2nd Cent on this webpage! Vise, Squeeze or Garage Job - I want to share this webpage with you - http://www.error-ref.com/squeeze-job-or-vice-job-or-garage-job/
Great link, thanks, that second cent has vise squeeze written all over it,please educate and correct me if i am wrong but I have seen similar patterns on the edge of coins where pliers, grips or a monkey wrench has been used.
Zackly! Must we assume that the seller of this crud is the person who manufactured it? Absolutely not! If anyone has doubts, just search these forums, and you can find dozens of such cases where the poster thinks it could be an error. Chris
I'd love to hear the seller's explanation of how this error was created. Did someone step on it with baby snowshoes?
As his listing title suggests, he doesn't have the slightest idea. All he is doing is taking advantage of all of the fools who don't know, as well. If someone keeps posting enough garbage, there is bound to be someone who comes along and thinks there is money to be made in a garbage dump. Chris
I will watch this item and see if anyone gets it. I will then inform everyone. Also - did you notice he has in parenthesis (NGC Member).. so that is going to make me think "this guy must know what he's talking about!".. I don't think so
Yeah, I had to laugh at that, too! FWIW, unless his username on the NGC forums is different from his FleaBay name, I have never seen him participating on the forums over there in the 10+ years I have been there. This leads me to believe that he is referencing his membership for submissions, which raises another question. If he is an NGC member, did this fool submit it to them for authentication only to be rejected? Chris
Now you all know that is the ultra rare and highly sought spotted leopard variety! Sheesh! This is from a reputable NGC member! Surely such a highly distinguished person wouldn't attempt to deceive potential buyers! /end sarcasm Seriously though - I have to laugh at these too, even more so when I see one that someone bid on. While I want to feel for the buyer, I have to laugh because I know sooner or later they are going to be kicking themselves.... Buy the book before the coin.
Wow - I just saw they have a "*RARE* 1888 SAN FRANCISCO SILVER MORGAN DOLLAR" up for $1,799.99 I sure hope no one beats be to spending $1.8k on this ~$250 coin.... On the other hand, if they do I might have to start selling some coins.
