Out here in the Rural Wild Wild West 2nd day Air UPS takes a little longer to get across the Dry Hot Dusty Desert. But here they are Both look fine under 10x Magnifier
So that auction ended up at $2,276. Not a bad price comparatively, but I resisted the temptation following my recent purchase of a 1981 Type 2 SBA $1 MS70. (Trying to develop a key date history of the $1 US coin - just need about a decade more and I'll be there). Both of my new ladies are arriving today, pending spousal execution of signature. Pretty excited!
I have seen people say that if you are not happy with the coin you can return it for an exchange. Is that true with the Mint?
My thing is... Only about 7-8k of these left. Hopefully I can return it before they sell out. Also, hopefully the one I get in exchange will be a 70, and not worse!
Yeah very true. I was surprised mine got out so fast because I only ordered in that back-order wave. Will post a pic when I get it. Hope you can swap yours out! I have a feeling that the timing of this release and the big hits on Gold might slow down the closeout of the coin so hopefully there's still a chance to make moves within the mint. I'm a pretty new collector overall and I just love the treasure hunting nature of it all, even with brand new proof purchases.
Where is the mark on the coin ? I keep looking at her dress, where the color change is, makes it look like a gold coated coin.
Rather than exchange, it could be returned for a refund and another one ordered. This would preclude the chance of a sell out, preventing getting a new coin in the exchange.
I thought about that... but I also thought about how they charged my debit card for nearly $3,000 (the second charge went away in a few days). I do not know if my account can take another $3k hit right now!
There's also no reason they do this for established customers either. They didn't do on the MOD sets I order or the Kennedy/Eisenhower coins I ordered after that. But when I bought the Truman coin with the same card I always use they authorized and charged and didn't drop the authorization for 5 business days. I wonder what would have happened if someones account didn't have enough for double their purchase amount available? Would they still get their coins or would it get cancelled and someone potentially miss out even though the had enough for their initial purchase due to something that is a result of the mints own billing issues.
Well, I gotta say I'm quite smitten. Looks great. Tails side really pops with great feather details. Looks perfect at 5x, at least through my rose colored glasses.
